The Harlem Gospel Choir was founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, who got the idea for the choir while attending a celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The choir's has adopted the charity "Feed The Children." They sell multi-colored charity wristbands on their Web site and at their concerts around the world. All proceeds are donated to Feed the Children. So far the choir has raised $43,000 from the sale of the silicone wristbands.
