Varied, vibrant, vivid; chaotic when busy. Hits: Black cod, skillet-roasted chicken with grilled corn, generous portions. Misses: Bland pizza, hit-or-miss fries, less-functional-than-pretty lighting.

dinner 5-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday

My wife and I met some friends for dinner recently at the Mez and we were pleasantly surprised. Although it was a bit difficult to find at first, the food was outstanding, prices very reasonable but a bit of a zoo atmosphere.
We definitely will return maybe during the week next time to avoid the zoo :-)
Of the five times I've been there the food and service was par excellent. Even though the place was packed the food was timely and the movie theater accented the total happening of the new venue. I've dined in the resturant, the bar and the theater. the quality was completely consistent. This may be the best people watching place as the crowd is totally cosmopolitan. An asset unique to Charlotte. MANY THANKS Mark Sprinkle
food was fine, service flat, unnecessary flash. it's new, maybe they will get it right eventually.
Helen nails it in this review. Nuf said. Great atmosphere, very cosmopolitan and food to match. Prices reasonable $7 for escargot and $14 for a huge lasagna. And you can also get food and beverage from this kitchen and take into the luxurious theater. The music gets loud after 9 but you can still hear yourself talk in the restaurant.
I recently went to Mez for a Valentines Day and thoughly enjoyed it! From the moment my husband and I stepped in we were completely amazed with the decor, service and the food was excellant! This was the best Valentines Day dinner I have EVER had! Thanks Mez!

The food is great, but the distractions are many. (Full review)
First Bite is an opinionated look at, not a full review of, a new restaurant. (Full review)
