Unexpected

here's one you would not expect: Today at EarthFare (Huntersville) at the seafood counter, they offered Sea Scallops wrapped in Bacon! Pan-fried, tender-perfect, with a crisp crust and perfect smokey bacon, completely cooked for you! Their price was $22 and there were 20-25 scallops in the bag. Why pay that price at E2 for only a few?!

On the whole I'd rather be at that new place on the green.

Agree

Unfortunately, I agree with this review. My husband I did visit e2 during Restaurant week and it was hit/miss on the food...certainly not what we expected from a restaurant with Emeril's name associated with it. I also agree that the bar is excellent offering very interesting options along with standard "favs." We were planning to return as we assumed restaurant week may not have been the best time to visit but then again, maybe not.

Bad Karma

I am so sick of reading the Charlotte Observer's reviews! I have yet to find a positive review of a movie or restaurant! It all cannot be that bad. Please fire your current staff of reviewers and hire more competent people.

Helen, you're wrong. The Fare is MORE than Fair at e2

Fare's only fair at e2

I am surprised at Helen's review. I've visited e2 six times. I've had many of the dishes she tried. I couldn't disagree more. It is regrettable her experiences and mine don’t match.

I would choose e2 over Capital Grille, Morton's, or Ruth's Chris' for an evening out.

Helen's comments about the food raised my eyebrows. e2’s gumbo is superb. Their trout pleasantly seasoned. The pork, moist and seasoned to perfection. I've eaten a whole appetizer of the mussels as a meal. The mussels were nothing short of amazing. Each appetizer I’ve tried has been fresh and flavorful.

Those who’ve served me have always had a grasp of the preparation details, ingredients, heritage, and nuances of the menu's offerings.

The manager, Jeff Wakem, keeps a watchful eye on the guests, food, and servers. The best server at e2 is Michelle. Ask for Michelle, she is the quintessential server.

The restaurant has three distinct sections. (casual, social, and intimate) One is certain to appeal to you. If you want a quiet meal, request a seat in the back area of the restaurant. The reservationists have always accommodated my requests.

Helen's reviews are usually spot-on. In the case of this e2 review, she's wrong. It maybe Helen’s bias against celebrity chef restaurants in Charlotte has ruined her appetite for e2. (e.g. Wolfgang Puck) The gripes about the seating, lighting, surfaces, and attire of the staff are silly. Unless, she’s trying to pile on the negatives of the restaurant.

e2 stands successfully on it's culinary offerings. e2 must be visited by anyone wanting a wonderful meal with unique flavors in a casual atmosphere.
