Your not wanted here

We have visited the epicentre theater and must admit it seemed to be a very nice theater. We would look every week to see what was premiering and notice that epicentre never offer popular african american movies. This has lead us to believe that afican americans are not really welcomed. Should I call this, rasicm? For this reason we have stopped visiting this theater. I would much rather patronize a theater that I dont feel as though I'm being indirectly discriminated against.

Epicentre is our first choice

We have been to the Epicentre at least once a month since it opened. We are so happy to have a theater within walking distance, and one which does not make us tolerate rude patrons. The staff has always been polite and helpful. We can print out our tickets in advance. It costs a little more, But it's Worth It!!

Choose another theater

I'll start on a positive note; the chairs are great and no kids... that's about the only nice things that come to mind... I'm a laid back person that is pretty easy to please, but the arrogance of this place is astonishing - especially for the $12 per seat price. I was excited to have a nice theater within walking distance of my home but have had 2 very disappointing experiences there. They try to maintain a level of classiness by enforcing a ridiculous dress code that doesn't make sense. (ex. They tried to turn away my friend because his clean, stylish, yet plain tshirt was "without a graphic." So make sure that if wearing a tshit, it's a mass produced, faux-weathered, "look at me, I'm edgy" shirt you overpaid for from Revolution next door or Express.) Second and most importantly, if you are like most of the movie-going market and try to see a movie at night, be aware that the theater is also a dance club. The walls are cheap and definitely not soundproof, so throughout the show you can expect to hear the THUD THUD THUD of the latest Soulja' boy insult to honest musicians added to the soundtrack. Every employee we encountered was either car salesmen-esque, blatantly rude or generally unhelpful. What management is trying to call upscale, is coming off as pretentious, cheesy, and lacking in the key details that make true upscale movie theaters in other cities, upscale.

For a better movie experience, I'll stick to Phillips Place or Park Terrace and suggest you do too until the Epicentre Theaters' management gets their priorities straight.

Without reserved seating and no one under 21 after 7 it would be nothing.

Bottom line: Any movie house that offers reserved seating and has an enforced no one under 21 after 7pm policy is going get my business.

It would unfortunately seem that the on-site management is more concerned about being a night club (MEZ) than a movie house.

On three separate occaisions we have arrived there planning on ordering food and have been told "sorry, no food for the movies tonight. special event at Mez" so we no longer even think about buying concessions there.

Overall, seats are confortable, picture/sound quality is A-OK, and like I said reserved seating and no on under 21 is the reason to go there.

To brookiredd0326: You're an idiot. Leave your four-year-old at home where he/she belongs. You obviously did no research prior to going.

Update: One problem with reserved seating is that people whink it's a license to come into the movie 15 minutes late. This has always been a problem in Charlotte (southerners have NO sense of urgency) but now the late comers crawl over you to get to the seats they reserved.

So excited to finally have this experience in town!

I can understand why some would not enjoy this experience. Epicentre Theatre and Mez are not your typical family outing. I love the atmosphere and upscale hospitality. The constant energy and movement is great for the crowd with no issues about money and want to enjoy open entertainment. This is not a family-get-together movie event and sit-down. I truly enjoy Epicentre and cant wait to return again soon!

NOT CRACKED UP TO WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE!

THE PRICING SYSTEM SUCKS. WHOEVER HEARD OF PAYING $9 FOR A 4 YEAR OLD TO GET INTO A MATINEE??? THEN THE WAY THAT THE THEATER IS SET UP WHEN U GET UP THE ESCALATORS IS TOTALLY CONFUSING. NO SIGNAGE OR ANYTHING TO TAKE YOU TO THE THEATERS. NO NORMAL CONCESSION STANDS. SUX!

Upscale theater, but not that upscale

The theater is a nice one, and the two level thing is something I haven't experienced since seeing a movie at Universal Orlando.

The pricing though is a bit stupid I thought.

They should do like Ballyntyne Village and have the VIP seats, the first 10 rows or so, and everything behind or in front of that would be the regular price.
