Cajun Queen is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Charlotte. It may not be the newest, shiniest, or have the best food in town... but it DOES have the best Cajun/Creole food. It's also got a lively, quirky setting filled with murals, mardi gras beads, indoor and outdoor seating, etc. There is very fun live Jazz every night of the week. Despite it ALWAYS being busy, the food is always suberb, and the revolving specials means there's always a new twist on an old favorite. They are also eager to customize your favorite dish to your liking. Most of all, I haven't encountered any better servers in Charlotte. They are warm, knowledgeable, professional, attentive, and they tend to remember you. This establishment is truly one of Charlotte's gems. In a town where restaurants come and go as quickly as fashion, the fact Cajun Queen has been open 20 years and retained it's edge says volumes.

It may not be Mardi Gras every day, but you can sure fix a craving here. The Cajun Queen is neither exclusively deep-deep-bayou Cajun nor dressed-up-fancy Creole: It's a meld, in cuisine, decor and manners. Look for BBQ shrimp (sauteed and fine), sauteed crawfish tails and good bread pudding.
