The Literacy Council of Union County’s 10th Annual Adult Community Spelling Bee is Thursday, May 1, 2008 at First Baptist Church, 109 Morrow Avenue, Monroe, 28112. It promises to be another exciting event with music, a larger-than-life bee, and fun-spirited competition. Ken Conrad ( Oldies 106.1) will call the preliminary round.
Participating teams include up to three adults who work for or are members of the organization they are representing. Fans are welcome to cheer them on as the words become more and more difficult. A large and lively audience will add to the fun!
A hot dot supper will be served beginning at 5:30 for a $6 donation. The spelling will get underway at 6:30. Admission is free – all are welcome!
The Literacy Council is a United Way of Central Carolinas Member agency, providing free one-on-one and small group tutoring for adults. For information, call 704-226-1425.
