Never before has a date in history been so significant to so many cultures, so many religions, scientists, and governments. "2012" is an epic adventure about global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.

That movie is so lame that you can tell that the Christian church that funded production was aiming for the weak minded (dumb & stupid) and the impressionable.
Do what I did and demand your money back.
I'm disappointed by yet another "typical" critique from above. Or below.
The movie is exactly what you would think it would be. A CG filled movie about the end of the world. To think there would be characters killed off (oh no!), monologues about saving your fellow man (pftt!), and just some good ol' movie making... What else would you expect? The movie is long, admittedly, but its REALLY good on the CG side. And, the movie has some good character development. I would recommend seeing it in the theater for the effects alone. But everything else it provides is gravy.
Go see it. I give it 3 out of 4 beers.

As with virtually all of director Roland Emmerich's films, '2012' is less about inventing a penetrating narrative and more about creating jarring sequences of destruction.
