1 Million Cups - Charlotte
1 Million Cups is a community-based organization that gives local entrepreneurs a safe place to practice their pitch. This new educational program is supported by the $2 billion Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation which makes their meetings FREE and open to ALL. The Charlotte chapter meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 8:30a-10a at Industry Coworking and we need supportive audience members like you to ask the founders questions and give them feedback on their business ideas. Each session begins with a half hour of FREE coffee (provided by Enderly Coffee) and casual socializing. The program begins about 9am with one or two startups presenting their story for six minutes, followed a Q&A from the audience for about 20 minutes. Ready to learn more and RSVP? Know a Startup? 2017 Annual Celebration 40 Never Looked So Good! Thursday, June 29th, 2017 5:30 pm - free
The Arts Council of York County invites the public and the members of the Arts Council to the Annual Arts Celebration on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Center for the Arts, 121 East Main Street, Rock Hill, at 5:30 pm. The Arts Council will kick off its 40th Anniversary by announcing 40 fabulous events to celebrate! We'll also be unveiling the updated Edmund Lewandowski mural on the Black St. side of the Center for the Arts. New board members will be announced, and outgoing board members will be recognized during the night as well. The Annual Celebration will also include highlights from the past year, presentations of the Ben Ardrey Volunteer Award, the Business & the Arts Partnership Award, and the Long Family Scholarship. Join us for a reception immediately following the program, with appetizers, and music by jazz saxophonist, Eric Brown. This is a free event. 2017 Literary Competitions: Call for Authors
The Arts Council of York County presents its 14th Annual Literary Competition, highlighting the best in short stories and poetry from across the Southeast United States; and the 6th Annual Youth Literary Competition, highlighting the best in short stories and poetry by students enrolled in K-12 programs from across York County, SC. The postmark deadline for entries is Friday, September 1, 2017. The annual Literary Competitions include two categories - short story and poetry. Each category will be judged independently. Authors may enter both the short story and the poetry competition, and entries are eligible to win an award in each competition, however, there will be no repeat prizewinners within the categories. The winners of the 6th Annual Youth Literary Competition will be awarded certificates of achievement.

The 2017 inaugural Strikes for Charity Bowl is a charity bowling event hosted by Chris Smith of the Cincinnati Bengals and special guest Kony Ealy of the New Englad Patriots. Come out and bowl for charity with Chris and his NFL friends. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Charlotte and West Rowan High School in Salisbury, NC.
