16th Annual Native American Studies Week
USCL’s Native American Studies is hosting its 16th Annual Native American Studies Week, “Indigenous Contributions in S.T.E.A.M.,” beginning Monday, Nov. 15 and concluding on Friday, Nov. 19. Celebrating Indigenous contributions to the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math, the week’s events include an artist talk, exhibit reception, a lecture on Native American foodways, programs on the chemistry of Catawba pottery and Indigenous medicine and health practices, and more! Thank you to OceanaGold/ Haile Operation for their generous support of the 16th Annual Native American Studies Week. Events will be held both in person and virtually. 21st Annual All American Dog Show
Join the Cornelius Parks and Recreation Department and Presenting Sponsor, Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, on Saturday, October 2, for the 21st Annual All American Dog Show. This event will be held at Robbins Park, 17738 West Catawba Avenue, from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m. On-Site Registration Begins 3:45 p.m. Shelter Strut Kick-Off Parade 4:00 p.m. Contests Begin Admission and parking are free, and attendance is encouraged for everyone, with or without pets! For those who wish to enter their dogs into the competition, event-day registration will be $12 per dog, or register online for $8 per dog to take advantage of a 33% savings now through September 29! Registration fee includes entry into two contests plus the All American Dog contest. Additional contests are: Best Coat, Best Dressed (with costumes), Best Kisser, Best "Puppy Dog" Eyes, Best Trick, Cutest Puppy (under 1 y/o), Fantastic Fella, Loveliest Lady, Most Ear-resistable Ears, Owner-Dog Lookalike (without costumes), and Sassiest Senior (over 7 y/o). The 360 Hoops Rock Hill Free Youth Basketball Clinic at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center is open to boys and girls ages 5-8, utilizing the patented three-on-three version of basketball which features a circular court and three baskets and backboards, all in play on every possession. The free clinic precedes the Rock Hill Youth Invitational, set for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 9-10.
