As part of Rosedale’s silver anniversary as a museum we are glad to host, the Billinda Daylily Gardens, an officially designated American Hemerocallis Society Garden, is the highlight of this lecture. Bill Gluck, owner and hybridizer, will give an engaging presentation on his acclaimed gardens located here in the Queen City. Bill will teach us about his award winning hybrids, including his famous Cat Ballou daylily, his collections of Stout Medal winners, Stamile Candies, and his double and miniature collections. Limited space is available for this special program so make your reservations early.

February is Black History Month. It is a time to look back at the heritage of slavery in our nation, and celebrate the achievements of African Americans in our community. On February 24th we invite you to join us for a unique smithy demonstration where you can see our blacksmith at work and talk to trained docents. Learn about this 200 year old property, her enslaved residents and find out about some big plans for our future as Rosedale celebrates her silver anniversary as a museum.

Easter Egg Hunt

Explore our enchanting gardens and wander through our ancient boxwood as you and your child hunt for Easter eggs left by the Easter Bunny himself. There will be 4 egg hunts, each starting at the top of the hour between 10:00 & 1:00. The eggs are filled with fun treats and educational facts about the plantation. Each participant will also leave with a small take-away gift. And as part of Rosedale’s silver anniversary as a museum there will be a special surprise at each hunt! Children of all ages are welcome and don’t forget your Easter Baskets. Come and explore our lush and magical gardens, which provide the perfect backdrop for Easter photos.

Oyster Roast

Rosedale’s Oyster Roast is a yearly tradition in good food and good times. Oysters are roasted outside in the true Southern coastal tradition. The usual side “fixins” will be available, as well as a low country boil and hot dogs. And there will be beer and wine for adults. Plus games for kids of all ages! You can expect great live music, a craft beer tasting from Birdsong Brewing, and other fun things to do at this 3-hour afternoon happening. As part of the celebration of our 25th year as a museum, we have more musical entertainment than ever! Reservations must be purchased no later than Friday, March 16th at noon. NO tickets will be available at the door.
