Rosedale, Built by the Books (Dinner with Calder Loth)

Join us for an unforgettable evening as we welcome Calder Loth, world renowned architectural historian, to Rosedale for one night only. Mr. Loth is the retired Senior Architectural Historian of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources where he served for 42 years. In 2008 he was the first recipient of the Secretary of the Interior's Preservation Award for service to state preservation programs. In 2010 he received the Board of Directors Honor Award from the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art for which he continues to teach. The evening will start with a cocktail hour from 6:00-7:00. This will be followed by a lovely dinner and a unique presentation from Calder Loth on the fascinating architectural character of Rosedale.

The Oyster Roast

Oysters are best in months with an “R” so March certainly qualifies! Rosedale’s Oyster Roast is a fun and family friendly outdoor event. Oysters are roasted outside in the true Southern coastal tradition and the usual sides will be available. There will be beer for adults and games for the kiddies. You can expect cornhole, croquet, and other fun things to do at this 3 hour afternoon happening. There will be hot dogs, snacks, and side “fixins” available as well.

Historic Rosedale’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Explore our enchanting gardens and wander through our ancient boxwood maze as you and your child hunt for Easter eggs left by the Easter Bunny himself. There will be 3 egg hunts first beginning at 10:00 am, second at 11:00, and the final one at 12:00 noon. Eggs are filled with fun treats and educational facts about the plantation. Rosedale Garden Tour 2017

Join Historic Rosedale for her third annual Garden Tour! This more than 200 year old Plantation house is situated on almost 9 acres of urban green space; but this special Garden Tour is not only of the Rosedale grounds! This year we are collaborating with the Botanical Garden at UNC Charlotte to bring you a new and unique garden experience. First stop is UNCC’s Greenhouse. Here you will meet with Dr. Mellichamp and he will lead you around the different gardens at the school, paying special attention to native wildflower species. You will also have a special opportunity to take home some native plants. After that we finish off our day at Rosedale: tour the gardens, take a quick look in the house, and have refreshments in the formal garden. Free Parking at UNCC available at 9090 Craver Rd. (Parking is always free at Rosedale)
